Quilted Hills - Screen Printed Silk Noil

The concept and design for Quilted Hills was inspired by a long drive through the Appalachian mountains, and the relationship I saw between agriculture and using your hands to make things. The mark making mimics the repetitive and grounding act of stitching and piecing together a quilt, or working land and spreading seeds in the ground.  The idea of measuring time in a cyclical nature, instead of counting the minutes, and paying attention to what is right in front of you.
